The Farmers Market Experiment

If you have a farmers market near you, go there.  There is such a diversity of foods that you not only add a ton of flavor to your regular meals, but open the door to a multitude of variations for the regular foods that you may have been getting sick of!

For example- if you like sweet potatoes, go for the Korean Sweet Potato. Their taste is similar and yet they still offer many of the health benefits that regular sweet potatoes do! Not only do they offer similar nutritional benefits, but they can often be prepared in the same manner!

Farmers markets = Fresh fruits and vegetables. Okay, so you can't let them sit in your freezer for months at a time, but they are really tasty and are full of nutrition! Don't forget about the great variety of meats to choose from.

Here comes the experiment part. Broaden your horizons and step out on a limb. Buy weird food.
If you have never been out of country to experience a great variety of foods, this experiment is especially for you! You may be looking on google a little bit before you purchase anything in store, especially when you see some crazy fruit like Bread Fruit. Bread fruit is packed full of nutrition, but it's taste is super boring. So ask yourself- are you going to spice up the fruit? Drizzle a tad bit of sugar on it to get the benefits of the super fruit? Look up a custom recipe or just skip it altogether and try the starfruit next to it!?

Buy one or two different kinds of vegetables/fruits each visit and expand your tastebuds! The worst thing that happens is that you are out a couple of bucks for a fun cooking experiment. This is not only a fun way to mix up the foods you eat but introduce variety and nutrition to your diet but create plenty of great conversation starters!
