I have been taking fish oil for years as I have always felt a difference when I take it- but something peaked my curiosity today at work. This buddy mentioned that taking too much fish oil is bad for you. Surely not, right? Isn't it just a healthy omega-3 fatty acid supplement that is good for your cholesterol levels and heart health? It surely is, but like every other supplement or vitamin, it is good to know how much is too much!
Before we get to the negative side of things, check out this abridged version for the benefits of fish oil:
Obviously these benefits are amazing! Not only that, but fish oil is utilized during many medical procedures, allowing the body to more easily adapt to new implants/cardiac procedures. So yes, fish oil is a fantastic healthy fat that you should be including in your daily diet. Real fish that is baked or grilled is better than frying or supplementation. Frying loses all of the nutritional benefits. Good food is always the best way to get your nutrients, but if you haven't had fish throughout the day, a couple fish oil pills won't hurt. So now, what should be cautious about when taking fish oil?
Taking more that 3000mg a day or 3g, may be detrimental to your health. Consulting a doctor and nutritionist should be your first route if you are decided to up your intake of fish oil. Those on blood thinners, blood pressure medications or have any pertinent medical histories should consult with their doctors prior to fish oil supplementation! Those under 150 lb should probably stick to no more than 2000mg a day.
Here are a couple of risk factors to be weary of, primarily based around taking too much (3000mg+)
Bottom line- take fish oil if you are able to. Your body cannot make these healthy omega-3's and America eats too many unhealthy fats as it is. Feel better, quicker and perform better.

This is not an ad trying to sell you a "quick and easy" product or get you on a bandwagon routine with the pyramid-scheme diet companies. This is an article telling you can change your life with 15 minutes a day. No strings attached.
We take for granted our daily routine and often don't even think much about it. We wake up, drive to work, sit at our desk, drive home, watch TV, sleep. Of course there are the occasional variances in your schedule, but for the most part, this is America's way of living. This way of living has now been proven as a quicker way of dying.
Our bodies were made to move. Think about how a car deteriorates the older it gets. The less it is cared for the faster it deteriorates. Our bodies are no different. Once you reach 40-50 years of age, hormone levels begin to decrease, bone density decreases and muscle mass decreases. That is why we need to renew our thought process and start NOW RATHER THAN LATER. Strength training, cardio and good nutrition are the keys in maintaining a healthy and strong body- but how to do I get there and how to do I stay there?
It starts with just 15 minutes a day. If you cannot commit to 15 minutes a day, re-evaluate your life and start to think long-term.
The 15 minutes doesn't start with running long distances or lifting weights- that comes later.
The first 15 minutes comes down to these 5 key things:
Once you have written your goals and shopping list down, it is important to keep track of your eating habits. This will take about 5-10 of those 15 minutes per day. The remaining time, you can determine how you are going to workout, where and with who.
The goals will drive you and feeling better and being able to accomplish more throughout the day will encourage you to stay with exercise programs. You will be AMAZED at your results in 1-Months time if you stick with these simple rules. 1.GOALS 2. HEALTHY EATING 3. MOVE!
